Meet Dr. Desai
Dr. Shaan Desai grew up in northwest Iowa where he won the high school individual state golf championship and qualified for the all-state jazz band all while earning valedictorian honors.
He then attended Simpson College studying biology, chemistry, and math. He played on the varsity golf team and was the lead saxophonist for the jazz band in addition to graduating with honors.
Next, he attended The University of Iowa College of Dentistry where he trained extensively in comprehensive dentistry and completed research in the field of cleft lip and palate genetics and was fortunate enough to be published in an esteemed journal.
Dr. Desai practiced for several years after graduation in the Eastern Corridor while attending many continuing education courses to further his education. Dr. Desai is proud to be a life-long student of dentistry.
He practices with a gentle touch and prides himself on being honest with you and your needs with a goal of preserving your smile for a lifetime.
In addition, Dr. Desai strives to give back to his community; he plays saxophone in the local band Homebrewed raising funds for non-profit organizations who help those in need in our society. Homebrewed plays benefit concerts for groups such as those who support the homeless, victims of domestic violence, new immigrant communities, food banks, and animal shelters. Say hello if you see him playing in the area!
In his free time, you will find Dr. Desai on the golf course, playing his saxophone, trying new restaurants and traveling with his wife, and spoiling his two sphynx cats, Boba and Chai.
Dr. Desai is proud to own a practice in Iowa City and looks forward to providing excellent care for you.
